Kelsey Grammer Signing Report! by Mike Sametz I was just talking with my roommate and as she took a sip of Coke Zero out of her 1980’s Grouchy Smurf glass she exclaimed, “Michael, why would you wait four hours in the cold for Kelsey Grammer!” I thought about this for a second. I really pondered… Four hours… Signed poster… Four hours… Signed poster… Four hours… Signed poster… WITH A BLUE PAINT PEN… And then I took off out the door to try and get Frasier Crane himself to sign my X-Men poster. What can you do? I have to have the complete set of six signed for God sakes! Right!? Right? Right??? 4:05 p.m. – I just arrived in my favorite alley way. There is one other person here. Thank god! Lol… I really was afraid I might be the only one to show up. Not that Kelsey Grammer isn’t a television legend, because he definitely is. I just don’t know that many die hard Frasier fans out there. 4:22 p.m. – It’s really nice and quiet. The other collector here is a cool guy and it’s nice to be able to chat without having the mass chaos of other people around. 4:49 p.m. – I’ve been trying to get all my individual X-Men three mini posters signed. So far, I have Anna Paquin, Halle Berry, and Hugh Jackman (http://www.mishmashmagazine.com/tabid/106/itemid/426/HUGH-JACKMAN-SIGNING-REPORT.aspx). What I really want with this one though is for Kelsey to sign it in my blue paint pen. Yes, I’m a dork, but it would look rad. So, we’ll see. LOL… 5:21 p.m. – There are a few other folks here now. I’m a little shocked, but I suppose he does have a fan base. Cheers and Frasier were both on for quite a long time. 5:39 p.m. – He should be arriving shortly. More collectors’ are here now, and let’s just say it’s not as quiet. LOL… 5:59 p.m. – The gates are opening up. The other guest here tonight was the lead from Castle, the female lead I should say. She did not come over but said she would on the way out. I think I would like Castle, but I can’t say I’m a huge fan, since I never saw it. However, Nathan Fillion rules! 6:13 p.m. – Still no sign of Kelsey. I was hoping he would do it on the way in so I could go home and chill. But the later it gets, the less I’m hopeful. Sigh… 6:31 p.m. – The gates are opening up. There are at least 25 people here now. Man, oh man… 6:34 p.m. – He just arrived. He’s on the telephone and not really paying much attention to us. He’s walking straight for the door. He waved and yelled something, but I couldn’t make it out. He went right inside, so much for getting him on the way in… sigh… 6:39 p.m. – It’ll be at least another hour now… sigh… 6:49 p.m. – I’m debating about taking off. I’m cold, and it’s one of those bundle up and stay under the covers days. 7:17 p.m. – I also brought my Simpson’s poster, but if he does come over I doubt I will be able to get two from him. Not the Simpson’s poster and the blue paint pen! Did I mention I obsess just a tad… just a tad I say! 7:41 p.m. – There are at least 30 people here. It’s crazy, and I thought I would be the only one. I must admit I am a bit shocked… 7:53 p.m. – Okay, the door is opening and Kelsey is leaving. Everyone is calling him over and here he comes! Whoo Hoo! I’m getting my poster ready, and I’m second in line so I should be cool. I might abandon the paint pen... I just can’t decide.
7:55 p.m. – Kelsey just got the guy next to me, and gave the guy his pen back. Shit and I don’t have the paint pen ready… Damn my obsessions. The paint pen is out, and the cap will not come off. Come on Michael, it’s only Kelsey Grammer for God sakes; it’s not Mary Louise Parker! Jesus… Finally, I got the cap off and I asked him to personalize my poster to Mike. He actually wrote “To Mike Cheers!” which I know he writes all the time, but still that’s kind of funny. He is really nice and signing one for everyone. He’s taking pictures and really seems quite humble. I’m very impressed actually. I wasn’t sure how he would be, but he is quite a nice guy. Overall a great day!
