Pink Signing Report! by Mike Sametz Sometimes there are days when you think you have to get somewhere early only to find you could have waited until the very end, and then there are those days when you think you can show up right at start time and there are a thousand people waiting. Today, I could have waited. Sigh… Pop princess P!nk is doing an outdoor concert today and I figured I would have to get there early to get a good spot. I mean this is P!nk after all! LOL… Alas, that is not always the case... 2:00 p.m. – Just arrived. I am literally the first one here. I figured I would be at the beginning of the line, but first? Wow I’m stunned. 2:24 p.m. – I’m still the only one here. Oh well. I brought my concert poster from Frankfurt with me, and I didn’t realize how huge it is. Crap! I also brought my flat for Try This, her third album. 2:35 p.m. – Oh someone else showed up! I’m not alone! That sounds like a bad pop song… “I am not alone, somebody’s watching me…” hmmm did I mix Michael Jackson lyrics with Rockwell…? 3:14 p.m. – The security guard just told me they are expecting a lot of people here today. I kind of thought so myself but when I was here for No Doubt I got here way earlier, and there were already tons of people… well, seven but still that was tons for the morning! LOL… 3:44 p.m. – Usually sound check starts by now, but today not so much apparently. I have loved P!nk for so long, I did get to meet her once before and I’m really hoping for a picture today. I really already got my ultimate thing signed by her so this is just a bonus. 4:32 p.m. – Well, there are about five of us now. I could have really waited to get here. But you never know. I mean when you think you have to get there early sometimes you don’t have to. And then when you think you can wait right up until showtime… you get bombarded. It’s a crap shoot. 5:09 p.m. – It’s kind of strange that she’s not here yet though. Hmmmm Even the line to get into the concert is small. 5:22 p.m. – I must admit I brought a pink pen for her to sign in. I know I’m a dork. I must admit I am a sucker for any good paint pens… ah… paint pens… They are such a pain, but when they work, they look so good! 5:39 p.m. – Well, at least they set up a barricade now… The line is getting longer for the concert, and there are about 10 of us. Still not the crowd I expected! 6:01 p.m. – Oh, P!nk just arrived! She just walked in though and didn’t come over. Damn! 6:14 p.m. – She just ran out to do sound check. I love her new cd, and "Funhouse" is one of my favorite songs. She keeps playing it over and over… at least the music is good while we wait! 6:35 p.m. – Oh, sound check just ended… She’s walking out… we’re calling her over… Yes, here she comes. She is coming straight to my poster. I asked her to sign it in pink, and she switched pens… sadly, she signed my poster right on her pink hair, and you can not see it!
Ugh, and she said she didn’t have time for pictures. Her quote was, “I have to hurry and get dolled up, and I just didn’t want you guys to think I was ignoring you. I’m sorry I’m running late.” Still it was cool of her to come over. This is the second time I have met her, and she has always been great. Hopefully, she will remain like that!
