The “chillwave” band Neon Indian, who released their debut record in 2009, has recently announced that they will be releasing their sophomore LP, Era Extraña, on September 13th via Mom + Pop music. The video for Foster the People’s “Helena Beat” was directed by Ace Norton and certainly shows the dark side that Foster the People has only given us hints at. The video depicts a post-apocalyptic landscape and kids beating up the members of Foster the People, though I won’t spoil the ending for you

Primus will release their first studio album in 11 years on September 13, 2011 on ATO Records and Prawn Songs. The album, titled Green Naugahyde, was produced and engineered by Les Claypool in his personal studio, Rancho Relaxo, in Northern California, and features Claypool, long-time guitarist Larry LaLonde and drummer Jay Lane

Pittsburgh duo 1,2,3 just dropped one of the standout debut albums of 2011 with their Frenchkiss Records release ‘New Heaven’. Pitchfork stated that ‘New Heaven’ hinted at good things to come, but if you listen more than twice most listeners will realize that the goods have undoubtedly already arrived
