Weezer CD Signing Report by Mike Sametz It’s a brisk night here in sunny Cali, and I am dragging my pasty Canadian butt down to the Hollywood and Highland Hot Topic for a CD signing with Weezer. As any regular reader knows I ran into half of the band not too long ago when they were doing a television taping (you can read about that here: http://www.mishmashmagazine.com/tabid/106/itemid/694/Weezer-Echo-and-the-Bunnymen-Catherine-Keener-Si.aspx). Florence and the Machine, Jason Schwartzman Signing Report by Mike Sametz I know a lot of people will look at me with confusion when I say, “I went to try and get a picture with Florence and the Machine!” I can almost hear crickets in the background; however her debut album, Lungs, is stunning. I have literally not stopped listening to it and am so excited to try and get her. I brought a couple import vinyl singles with me to get signed, and a CD as well. Oh Jesus, help us! The lovely Erica and I are hiking up to the Greek Theatre today to try and see what transpires are the Scream Awards. I have never heard of the Scream Awards myself, but apparently they air on Spike TV. You see, I don’t have cable, I know I know… I hear it all the time when I ask my friends to TIVO True Blood, but I digress… The Awards show has a LOT of big names in the Sci – Fi genre, so God willing we will at least get a few people to come over and sign. The lovely Erica is joining me tonight for… Wait for it… Wait for it… The Best in Drag Show Benefiting the Aid for Aids Foundation. Now normally this wouldn’t be my first choice for an event, but I have to say, it will be interesting to say the least. I mean really, who doesn’t love a good drag show right? One of my favorite Desperate Housewives, Ms. Eva Longoria is doing a talk show appearance today with none other than Shakira! I have wanted both of them, and have met Eva a couple times now, but never got a picture with her. So, hopefully today will be the day. I have not heard good things about Shakira, but hopefully today she’ll feel generous and come on over. We shall see…
