In case you don’t know, Congressman Anthony Weiner is a Democrat from NY that just resigned today, announcing his decision as a heckler cried out, “Yeah! Bye-bye, pervert!”
His attempt a dignified, televised goodbye, was nationally broadcast live from his Brooklyn office. He would have been wiser to just send a letter of resignation, as his televised speech was plagued by hecklers through its duration. TMZ has reported that the heckler who wanted to know Weiner’s penis size was none other than Benjy Bronk of the Howard Stern show.
Fox News commentator Rich Lowry, remarked: “The heckling was really extraordinary. Given the abuse and the humiliation that’s been heaped on this guy, you could at least give him five uninterrupted minutes to sing his swan song.”
Weiner’s offenses:
1) He had hilarious sexual exchanges with women online (exchanges that have been entertaining us for weeks!)
1) He tweeted a picture of his crotch to a woman nearly three weeks ago and lied about it to reporters.
2) He admitted to online exchanges with six women in total.
3) He coached a porn star on how to lie about their online exchanges.
Weiner’s finally owned up to tweeting the crotch shot that began his troubles, but fellow Democrats have been growing increasingly unhappy and have been after him to resign.
But what would Obama do? Funny you should ask. President Obama said this week that he would resign if he were in Weiner’s place.
The Times reported that Weiner finally decided to throw in the (dirty) towel after long talks with his wife, State Department official Huma Abedin, who has been traveling abroad with Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton. I’m not even going to comment on this last part….
