This year, Lady Gaga was honored by being included in TIME magazine’s 100 Most Influential People issue, in which she was listed as the most influential pop star ever. Her presence rocked the cover of the issue, along with former President Bill Clinton and soccer star Didier Drogba. Cyndi Lauper, who wrote the article on Gaga for TIME, noted “Lady Gaga’s art captures the period we’re in right now.”
Lady Gaga’s fashion choices, bizarre music videos, and upbeat inventive music have inspired people around the world. Her artistic expression has led Gaga to become one of the most popular artists around. So popular that she has broken multiple records – most watched videos on YouTube, highest selling album…
And now the avant-garde pop star has recently broken the record for the most digital units sold. She has now sold over 25 million digital copies of The Fame Monster, and is the first artist to ever sell that many digital units. In addition, Gaga is the first artist in digital history to have 3 songs sell over 4 million copies – “Bad Romance,” “Poker Face,” and “Just Dance.”
Lady Gaga’s career is just starting and she has already made it this far. There’s no telling where she’ll be in 10 years. As Cyndi Lauper states, “She isn’t a pop act, she is a performance artist. She herself is the art. She is the sculpture.”
