10 Questions with Pierce The Veil frontman Vic Fuentes…
1. First concert you ever attended?
A local show in San Diego for my friends band called Tax Included. At the time, I thought they were the coolest thing in the world. That was the beginning of Punk Rock music for me. Oh, and for the record, Mike was rocking liberty spikes at the time, haha!
2. How do you prepare for a show? Any specific things you do to get in the right headspace?
I take good care of my voice on tour, so before every show I do a 30-minute vocal warm-up. I also do some pre-show stretching, because anyone who has seen our live show knows that we like to jump off things and destroy as much of the stage as possible.
3. What image do you think your music conveys?
Hopefully it conveys something special for each person. Some of my favorite records still strike me emotionally whenever I hear them again. If you are passionate about a song or an album they will stay with you forever.
4. What’s your favorite thing to do besides play music?
I really love taking advantage of time off to catch up with friends and re-kindle the relationships that I’ve made with people over the years. It’s important to keep the people that you care about involved in your life as much as possible.
5. What are some of your pet peeves?
I hate seeing how fame and popularity can change people.
6. How would you define the word “success”?
Doing whatever you love and reaching personal goals that you’ve set for yourself. Whether those goals are big or small, you are making things happen and enjoying it along the way.
7. If you could be a superhero, what would you want your superpowers to be?
I’ve always wanted to be able to freeze time like they used to do in “Saved By The Bell.”
8. If you could make mass produce a t-shirt with your own slogan on it, what would that slogan be?
“This Ain’t A Game”
9. What’s the most exciting thing that’s happened to you so far?
Just booked our first tour in Japan. I never thought the day would come.
10. What are your up-to-date performance plans? New releases? Tours? News?
We are releasing our second album, “Selfish Machines,” on June 21st. Then, we do the entire Vans Warped Tour, then Australia, then Japan! Stoked!
