Pixar’s highly-anticipated Toy Story 3 is a family-friendly must-see this summer.
Box office sales erupted this past weekend as Disney Pixar’s acclaimed Toy Story 3 hit theaters with a fun-for-all-ages, heartwarming conclusion to the classic trilogy. With famous voices like Tim Allen (Buzz Lightyear), Tom Hanks (Woody), Michael Keaton (Ken), and Jodi Benson (Barbie), the film is downright hilarious from beginning to end as the toys must embark on yet another far-fetched journey to save each other and remain faithful to their owner, Andy. The third, and final installment of the critically acclaimed film picks up right where we left off, as the characters (though slightly older) have matured and Andy prepares to head off to a world unknown: college.
A few clever plot twists and miscommunications later, the toys find themselves being donated to Sunnyside DayCare, which seems, and is, too good to be true. The resident toys of the day care include Lotzo, a plush, strawberry-scented bear, Ken (no explanation needed), and ‘Big Baby’, a life-size baby doll among others who welcome the new toys with open arms. However, sooner or later, the toys realize they are being manipulated as they are put in the toddler room and abused rather than played with. Lotzo and his crew closely monitor the toys, informing them that they must “earn their place” and it is up to heroes Woody and Buzz to save themselves and their family. Although the entire movie is quite honestly hilarious, highlights of the film include Barbie and Ken’s turbulent relationship, Buzz Lightyear’s “Spanish” mode, and Mr. Potato Head’s trials and tribulations as the team works together to escape the evil ways of Sunnyside.
The humor throughout the film is genius, as audiences of all ages can find something to laugh about. Be warned, however, the last ten minutes of the film are quite a tear-jerker as the series comes to a bittersweet conclusion. Critics have rated this film an “A-” according to Yahoo.com, which any avid movie goer should know is a HUGE deal. While nothing gets better than the original Toy Story, released in 1995, Pixar certainly does not disappoint with this summer’s hit Toy Story 3 now playing nationwide.
