Anne Hathaway and Breaking Upwards Premiere Signing Report!

I just got a last minute phone call and I’m running out the door.  My beloved Anne Hathaway is attending a premiere of a new indie film called Breaking Upwards at the Silent Movie Theatre in West Hollywood.  She is one of my most wanted.  I have a few autographs from her, but I really want a nice picture with her, so we shall see.  Janna is there and said there is very light security and there aren’t many people, so time to motor!

8:33 p.m. – My friend and I are just arriving.  Janna is waiting, and holding down the fort.  I’m a little shocked there are not more people waiting.  Ah well, that could be good, and bad…

8:45 p.m. – Also here tonight is actor Josh Hartnett (and yes I brought my Faculty DVD!) along with some other random celebs.  I heard some True Blood people are here as well, Anna Camp and Michael McMillian who play the pastor and his wife from the Fellowship of the Sun church in True Blood.

9:02 p.m. – I think the movie started at 8:00 so we have some time.  Anne is not known for being very autographer friendly.  I think I have tried to get a pic with her like 9 times and it’s never worked out… so I’m not too hopeful, but if it’s only three of us…

9:14 p.m. – It is such a beautiful night… ah… it’s a nice quite evening so far and we’re all just hanging out.  A nice quiet… wait…

9:22 p.m. – About three more collectors just showed up… ugh… Wonderful.

9:26 p.m. – A couple more arrived… great… my dreams of a pic with Anne are over… ah well… I did bring my True Blood poster and a 12×18 photo poster of the Mark Seliger photo shoot Anne did for the British version of GQ.

9:27 p.m. – I just heard Johnny Galecki is here, and me without my Christmas Vacation laserdisc!  Grumble!  Ah well….

9:44 p.m. – It should be ending at any time… Oh crap more collectors and a video guy… man…

9:46 p.m. – There are now a horde of 13 crazy French girls just wandering about.  Oh this is turning out to be just like The Joneses premiere… sigh…

9:56 p.m. – Oh, the play is ending… a bunch of people are leaving…. Some small random names, I honestly don’t know… Oh shit there goes Johnny Galecki…

10:04 p.m. – Hopefully Anne will come out soon.  Crap, more collectors. Man!

10:08 p.m. – Josh Hartnett just took off… everyone is running after him.  He is in a hurry but stops and signs.  I got him on my DVD of The Faculty and a pic as well.  He is such a cool guy.

10:16 p.m. – Well, we are still hanging loose.  It seems like more and more people are showing up.  Wait…

10:17 p.m. – Anna Camp and Michael McMillian just left.  We are going after them.  Janna gets a pic with them, my friend gets a pic with them, and I get a pic and get them both to sign my True Blood poster.  They are so nice, I have to say.  It’s always fun to get people just starting out because they are so happy to stop and sign for fans.

10:22 p.m. – Well… still waiting… The front door is open and we are skulking about.  My friend motions for me to follow him inside.  I hate doing anything like this… ugh… Janna is going in too… oh well, if I’m going to be arrested for an Anne Hathaway photo opp, it is worth it.

10:25 p.m. – So we are in the theatre and no one has stopped us, so we are going in the back to the after party.  I feel like I should be tiptoeing  like in some kind of 1980’s Saturday Morning Cartoon.  Lol…

10:28 p.m. – We made it to the after party; okay… there is an open bar, and tons of people.  Janna and my friend start scoping out the crowd… thankfully I don’t have my big white bag with me.  I have a shopping bag, lol… (Thanks Erica for bringing that with you on your last trip!)

10:31 p.m. – Janna spots Anne talking to some people in the back.  We make our way over there… Oh god, I am dying….

10:33 p.m. – My friend turns to me and says, “Just follow my lead.”  He walks over to Anne as soon as there is a break in the conversation, and says, “Excuse me Anne, I really hate to bother you, but my friend there is a huge fan and I was wondering if he could get a picture with you.”  Okay all the blood has drained from my face; I am pale white and so embarrassed… lol… Anne says, “Oh sure.”  I’m starting to babble now; I can feel the babble coming on… I think I muttered something about how she’s my favorite actress and thanked her for her humanitarian work, etc… she is so gracious and takes a picture with me.  My friend makes sure it comes out and I thank her.  Janna and my friend also get a pic as well… OH MY GOD!  Oh yeah… OH MY GOD!

10:37 p.m. – Suddenly, the mad group of French girls storm the gates.  They run up to Anne all trying to get a picture with her.  She says, “Okay, I’ll do one group picture.”  LOL… We grab our stuff and start heading out.   I am dying I love Anne and even though it wasn’t appropriate to get things signed, the picture is worth so much more!  Whoo hoo!  I’m really so happy right now.  YAY!  Time to get some food at Canters!
