I heard, and this is just something that got passed down from the grapevine… I heard that there was this… Greatest American hero… and that he would be there… hmmmm who am I talking about… Oh yeah… G.I. Joe… lol… I decided to go over to the G.I. Joe premiere in Hollywood since I have these handy mini posters from the movie I got at Comic Con last year. I’ve heard mixed reports about the movie, but I figure I would try. Anyway, on with the show…
3:32 p.m. – I just staked out my place on Hollywood Blvd. There are some people milling about but not a whole lot. The cast does not have a lot of huge names, but it would be nice to get Dennis Quaid, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. I need Joseph on my 3rd Rock script (you can read about the start of that odyssey here.
3:43 p.m. – They closed half of Hollywood Blvd off. It’s interesting. They didn’t preview the movie for critics, I haven’t seen that many commercials for it, but this is a pretty large premiere. Especially considering there aren’t that many big name actors in the movie.
4:01 p.m. – There is a large crane to the right of the premiere. I have no idea what’s for, but there it is. Someone said it’s for Jimmy Kimmel, for some kind of stunt.
4:32 p.m. – It’s getting hot out now. There is a DJ playing by the name of DJ Bizzy. He’s not really doing much, so I can’t say that he’s really that Bizzy… With a name like Bizzy you need to be going all day long. Is it just me?
5:02 p.m. – Still not much happening. A lot of tourists walking around staring. I don’t understand why someone sees a big, giant poster of G.I. Joe and then asks, “What’s this for?” You just really want to say, “Bridget Jones Diary.” You know what I’m saying? And knowing is half the battle. (I had to fit that in somewhere).
5:29 p.m. – I brought my G.I. Joe mini posters for most of the cast, and my OZ DVD for Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje and the latest issue of GQ for Channing Tatum. I also have some DVD’s for Dennis Quaid and my 500 days of summer mini poster, and 3rd Rock script for Joseph.
5:42 p.m. – I’m sweating in crevices I did not know I had.
5:55 p.m. – Jimmy Kimmel is loading himself and Sienna Miller into a large metal box, and craning them across the street to the premiere. I dunno, it looks really lame… I mean… really lame.
6:11 p.m. – People are yelling for Sienna to come over but she doesn’t even look at the crowd and goes right into the press line. Doh! Jimmy Kimmel jacked us!
6:24 p.m. – Oh, people are starting to arrive now. Ray Park just got here. He plays Snake Eyes. People are really calling out for him. Finally he comes over. I got him on my mini poster.
6:45 p.m. – oh Marlon Wayans just arrived. People are going crazy for him. He runs over really quick and signs some stuff. I got him on my mini poster, which is cool. I didn’t expect that one.
6:48 p.m.- Rachel Nichols arrives, and does not walk over.
6:51 p.m. – Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje just arrived. He runs over to the crowd and signs. I got him on my OZ DVD. He says, “Now I gotta sign that one!” He wrote OZ on the bottom of the DVD as well, and gave me a knuckle hit. LOL… That was fun. He’s such a nice guy.
7:04 p.m. – Channing Tatum just arrived. The usual screaming ensues. He runs over and but only signs a few and quickly. I got him on my GQ but he is so rushed. It’s a little crazy, cause usually he takes his time. Bummer.
7:32 p.m. – Well, that was it for the most part. There were a couple other people but not from the movie. Both Dennis Quaid and Joseph Gordon-Levitt were no shows. Bummer. Sigh… Well, there’s always another time.
